The event was developed as an opportunity to shine a light on gender equality by spotlighting the stories of two incredible women, Alessia Zecchini, world champion freediver, and Hawa Kivembele, Director of the Rinaldo Gasparini Maternity Clinic.

Spotlighting women of strength

At the event, Alessia Zecchini, World freediving champion and protagonist of the documentary "The Deepest Breath" on Netflix, shared with the audience the incredible challenges and experiences she faced in the world of freediving. The champion freediver gave us her unique perspectives of being a woman within this male-dominated sport and highlighted her perspectives on pursuing your passions in the face of adversity.

Hawa Kivembele is the Clinical Director Rinaldo Gasparini Foundation Maternity Clinic. Hawa began working at the RGF clinic in 2011 and after pursuing a medical degree, funded by Renco, in 2019 she was appointed as the clinical director of the centre. She shared with us her path at the clinic and in pursuing her degree, showcasing the unique challenges faced by women within her field and emphasising the role women have to play in promoting the social and physical well-being of a community. The event helped to highlight the achievements of these incredible women as they inspired the audience with their stories of sacrifices and achievements.

Gender equality at Renco

At Renco gender equality remains a central priority as a part of our social sustainability strategy as we aim to find critical ways to give a voice to women in diverse forms.

Camilla Bianchi, Sustainability Coordinator, who helped organize the event and facilitated the critical conversations among the women, remarked: "This evening, we wanted to highlight the power of women. The power of women leading a clinic, the power of women setting world records, the power of women managing daily commitments while also finding the time to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to their passions…"

' In other words, exactly what men do. So why aren't we seen? Why aren't we respected? Why are these events still necessary? Why does the news tell us otherwise? Why do we have continuous testimonies of discrimination? I conclude with these thoughts and by thanking Renco, which is demonstrating foresight, attention, and sensitivity towards these issues '
