The President of the Italian Republic, Mr. Sergio Mattarella, attended the opening ceremony of the Financial Police Academy in Bergamo.
The building structure renovated in just over two years, by a Joint-Venture formed by Renco SpA and “Cooperativa Muratori e Braccianti of Carpi” has been inaugurated on last 27 October. Owned by “Cassa Depositi e Prestiti”, the structure to be the new Financial Police Academy headquarters, consists of 12 buildings arranged in a horseshoe shape around a large central park. It belonged to the former “Ospedali Riuniti” of Bergamo, a building dating back to 1930 and fallen into a state of disrepair for several years.
The Academy develops on a surface of 140 thousand square metres with 600 beds in single or double rooms with bathrooms in addition to 24 service accommodation and 23 multimedia teaching rooms.
It also includes a 500-seat auditorium and a canteen with kitchens. The “Palazzina Rossa”, a historic building with listed facades, is the Academy’s “command building” with management offices inside.
A sports area has also been created with a 25-metre swimming pool, three gyms, a multifunctional basketball and volleyball court, an athletics track and a football pitch with a 500-seat grandstand and a 50-metre shooting range below.
There are 500 parking spaces at various points in the building complex, as well as an underground car park with around 50 spaces.
