Gas compression for Snam
The two Snam Rete Gas projects contracted to Renco by MAN Energy Solutions concern the adaptation of two gas compression stations in Malborghetto (Udine) and Messina, each with 12 MW nominal power.
key info
In detail
These are two distinct works for the adaptation of two gas compression stations with clearly defined aims. In Malborghetto: engineering, management, supply, transport and assembly of 2 electric compressors, including remote diagnostics, material storage, training courses, dismantling equipment, initial start-up and a 3-year warranty inclusive of routine and extraordinary maintenance. In the gas compression plant in Messina, the project concerns the replacement of a gas compression unit (TC-4) with two 12 MW electric compressors and the adaptation of part of the facility’s piping, plus the construction of new buildings. All the technical works listed for the Udine project will also be included here.

CLOSE-UP ON THE PROJECT
Malborghetto will be the first “hybrid” plant to be built by Snam Rete Gas; in other words, it will also be powered with electricity, which will reduce emissions and, ultimately, contribute towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Messina will be the second plant of this type to be built.
The partnership between Renco and Snam Rete Gas dates to 2003, when the first unit for the compression station in Terranuova Bracciolini (Arezzo) was installed by a temporary association of companies (Renco with Solar Turbines). This was followed by the supply and installation of turbo compressors for a further 4 compression stations. In total, Renco has collaborated with Snam / Stogit for 11 Solar turbo compressors. Further projects are being developed in relation to the Snam 2026 strategic plans.
