Renco for the new Microsoft Data Center

Renco, in partnership with Terna S.A., has officially won the tender to build a brand-new state-of-the-art data center in Spata, near Athens, in Greece for Microsoft.
New Acquisitions

The scope of the tender encompasses all phases of development of the project, which includes the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning stages. Our technical and economic proposal stood out as the top choice among numerous other submissions.

' This is a great result for our company; our project was considered the best among the offers of many other foreign companies competing. It means that Italian know-how, skills and professionalism still represent added value today, especially from multinationals like Microsoft that operate all over the world '

Environmental and Energy Sustainability

Work on the project commenced mid-March 2024, with an expected completion date towards the end of 2025.

The project presents a prime opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to innovation and sustainability on a global scale, working with one of the world's most well-respected technology players. The Ballard-type centre will be constructed on a 22.3-hectare site within the Spata business park. It will be equipped with state-of-the-art technologies with a total installed capacity of 19.2 MW. The centre will consist of two units, each housing four cells of 2.4 MW. The project will also involve the construction of an operational and administrative support and a water storage facility. Work on the centre is done in full compliance with LEED requirements to ensure adherence to standards for environmental and energy sustainability.

"This project represents an excellent opportunity for Renco to show its commitment to innovation and sustainability. We are proud to collaborate with great partners such as Microsoft and the other companies involved. Our vision is to create not only a cutting-edge data center, but also a model of excellence in terms of energy efficiency and environmental respect."

Giovanni Gasparini, President

For Renco, this project represents a pivotal project in the global digital and technological transition.
