the Group's total energy consumption amounted to 150,541 GJ, a 5.32% decrease compared to the previous year, which recorded a consumption of 159,008 GJ.

Our activities as a company can make a big difference in the fight against climate change. Renco has implemented a comprehensive environmental management system throughout our organisation that promotes the efficient use of resources in all our activities, minimises CO2 emissions, and advances the use of alternative sustainable solutions. We focus on sustainable objectives across two key areas: Energy and Waste.

Energy

Through our commitment to environmental sustainability, we hold ourselves accountable for monitoring our energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Furthermore, we are firmly focused on the global energy transition and continuously seek out innovative ways to propel us forward.

Waste

Waste is an incredibly important component of our environmental sustainability objectives. We have instituted a comprehensive standardised waste monitoring system that extends beyond our headquarters to all divisions of our company. Our focus remains on optimising recycling while maintaining standardised practices.

Sustainability Initiatives

We are committed to supporting various sustainability initiatives that benefit the community and our people.

Kazakhstan recycling awareness program

In the Kazakhstan office, our local team launched a recycling segregation campaign with the objective to promote sustainable recycling in the workplace, while also allowing the organisation to contribute to a worthy charity. The initiative aimed to collect 27 tonnes of plastics, with the proceeds used to buy clothing for children in local villages. The campaign serves as an opportunity to help give back to the community while promoting sustainable behaviours amongst our employees.

Mozambique recycling awareness program

In Mozambique, our team decided to experiment with the use of composters to recycle the portion of organic waste produced by our canteens in Pemba and the Mecufi Resort. The aim of this initiative is to reduce the quantity of waste generated and the associated disposal costs. In the next step of the project, the team are working on raising awareness among the local population by donating our compost to the Mecufi community or other communities affected by our projects.
